Switch ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website at theswitchai.com and the Switch application (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and profile picture as provided by Google. We use Supabase Auth to manage authentication.

Conversation Data

We store the messages you send and receive through the Service, including the AI model used, timestamps, and any files you upload. This data is necessary to provide conversation history, context continuity, and project features.

Usage Data

We collect information about how you use the Service, including query counts, models selected, routing decisions, and feature usage. This data is used for rate limiting, analytics, and improving our routing engine.

Billing Information

Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status but never store credit card numbers, bank account details, or other payment credentials on our servers.

Uploaded Files

Files you upload (session files, project knowledge files) are stored in Supabase Storage. We extract text content from these files for search and context features. Files are scoped to your account and not shared with other users.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • To route your queries to the most appropriate AI model
  • To maintain conversation context and memory across sessions
  • To process payments and manage your subscription
  • To enforce rate limits and usage policies
  • To analyze usage patterns and improve model routing accuracy
  • To communicate with you about your account or the Service
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents

4. Third-Party AI Providers

Switch routes your queries to third-party AI model providers, including Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (ChatGPT), Google (Gemini), Perplexity, DeepSeek, and xAI (Grok). When your query is sent to a provider:

  • Your message content and relevant conversation context are transmitted to the selected provider
  • Each provider processes your data according to their own privacy policy and terms
  • We do not control how providers use data sent to their APIs
  • File attachments may be sent to providers that support them

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of each AI provider. Switch selects providers based on query suitability, not data handling preferences.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data in the following circumstances:

  • AI Providers: As described in Section 4, query content is sent to selected AI model providers
  • Payment Processing: Billing information is shared with Stripe to process payments
  • Infrastructure: Data is hosted on Supabase (database/storage) and Vercel (application hosting)
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process
  • Safety: We may disclose information to protect the rights, safety, or property of Switch, our users, or others

6. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

  • Row-Level Security (RLS) policies ensuring users can only access their own data
  • Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit
  • Server-side authentication checks on every API request
  • API keys and secrets stored server-side only, never exposed to browsers

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

We retain your conversation data and account information for as long as your account is active. You may delete individual conversations at any time. If you wish to delete your account and all associated data, contact us at the email below.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing activities
  • Export your data in a portable format

9. Cookies and Local Storage

We use browser local storage to persist your theme preference and authentication tokens. We do not use third-party tracking cookies. Supabase Auth uses secure, httpOnly cookies for session management.

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised effective date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
